Placement
Exam
Any
student may take the Placement Exam to test out of the Spanish requirement
or to determine what level of Spanish (I, II or III) to enter.
The
exam can be taken at any time at the Language Lab located in Olson 49.
The exam is computerized and very user friendly. The student may take
the exam only once.
Credit
by examination
Any
student that already knows the material taught in either Spanish 1,
2 or 3 but has not received high school or college credit for it, may
challenge a course and receive credit by doing and interview and taking
the final exam offered at the end of the quarter. This option allows
students to satisfy the language requirement without having to attend
class five days per week.
To
challenge one of these courses, students must do the following:
1) Pick
up a Credit by Examination petition at the Registrar's Office.
2) Have
Norma López-Burton in the Spanish Department and someone at the
Dean's office sign the petition.
3) Return
the petition to the Registrar's Office and pay a $5.00 fee.
4) Make
and appointment with Norma López-Burton to do the oral interview
any time between the second and ninth weeks of classes. Final exams
for credit by examination are given during final exams week.
