Personal
Reading these articles from The Atlantic online gave me a real aha! moment:
- Caring for Your Introvert: The habits and needs of a little-understood group, by Jonathan Rauch
- Introverts of the World, Unite! A conversation with Jonathan Rauch, the author who—thanks to an astonishingly popular essay in the March 2003 Atlantic—may have unwittingly touched off an Introverts' Rights revolution
- Jonathan Rauch comments on some of the feedback he's received for "Caring for Your Introvert"...
Music
I have played acoustic and electric guitar for twenty-five years and electic bass for eight years. I also play piano a little by ear, and I like to play around on a drumset when I get the chance. I play bass for a blues band called Black Cat Bone with UC Davis colleagues Charles Oriel and Julia Simon. UC Davis Dateline wrote about us in this article published in the January 6, 2006 edition.
I have always loved classic rock, especially groups like Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Doors, Cream, and Jimi Hendrix. Back in 1994-95 when I spent my Fulbright year teaching English in France, I first discovered Georges Brassens. More recently, I have come to realize that I like Brassens probably for the same reasons I like Johnny Cash.
